Barbara Lyons

Born in Hanover, New Hampshire; Harvard University (A.B. cum laude); University of California, Davis School of Law; American Jurisprudence award in Jurisprudence.

Barbara has focused on antitrust and securities law class actions for over a decade, as well as on toxic tort, qui tam, fraud, contract, employment discrimination and other civil and bankruptcy actions. Prior to joining The Furth Firm, she was an associate at Cotchett, Pitre & McCarthy, and had previously practiced at various firms in the Sacramento area. She has worked for the California State Senate’s Commission on Corporate Governance, Securities Transactions and Shareholder Rights, assisting with the drafting of the Beverly-Killea Limited Liability Company Act, the Corporate Governance Parity Act and other California securities and limited partnership legislation.

Barbara has authored appellate briefs in In re: Subpoena Duces Tecum Issued to Commodity Futures Trading Commission, 439 F.3d 740 (D.C. Cir. 2006), aff’g. In re: Subpoena Duces Tecum Issued to Commodity Futures Trading Commission, 370 F.Supp.2d 201 (D.D.C. 2005); E. & J. Gallo Winery v. EnCana Corporation, 503 F.3d 1027 (9th Cir. 2007), aff’g E. & J. Gallo Winery v. EnCana Corporation, 2005 WL 2435900 (E.D. Cal. 2005); CenterPoint Energy, Inc. v. Superior Court, 157 Cal.App.4th 1101 (Cal. Ct. App. 2007); and other matters. She is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, and argued before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in T & E Pastorino Nursery v. Duke Energy Trading and Marketing, LLC, 123 Fed.Appx. 813 (9th Cir. 2005).

Barbara currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County, and is a former director of the Northern California Children’s Therapy Center and the King Hall Legal Foundation. E-mail: blyons@furth.com
